We are proud to be a Sing Up Gold and Platinum Award School, one of only 3 in Cumbria and a select group in England. As a Platinum School, we work as singing ambassadors for Sing Up. Singing is at the heart of North Lakes in our classrooms, assemblies, in the playground and even on school trips!
We work with other schools and our choir has performed in many memorable local and national events, produced its own CD and been filmed and recorded for the National Sing Up website. In 2016 we performed the National Anthems for Scotland v New Zealand in the Rugby League Four Nations World Cup.
We try to offer as many children who wish, the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument. Over many years during their time at North Lakes, every child has had the opportunity to play a woodwind instrument, through the First Access Programme. Every child leaves Y6 having had two years of instrumental tuition. Additionally we offer tuition for a small weekly charge in instruments such as Guitar, Violin, Recorder, Singing and Songwriting (this may change depending upon demand).
North Lakes School also hosts Penrith Music Centre which is run by BlueJam Arts and supported by Cumbria Music Education Hub.
