Sing Up Day (Mar 2020)

We raised the roof with the sound  of ‘Platinum’ singing on Wednesday 11th March as we proudly flew our flag for Sing Up Day 2020.

The day began with our traditional NLS warm up to get our whole bodies geared up for singing this was followed by a rehearsal of this year’s Sing Up Day song ‘There’s a Power in the Music’, by Lin Marsh.

From the moment children arrived at school until the end of the day, our timetable was packed with choruses from our favourite songs – every lesson began with song.  Other Sing Up Day activities included singing in the playground and the announcement of our new singing leaders who are: Ava, Toby, Katie, Amy, Kenzie, Mario,    Oscar, Brooke, Isobel, Stefan, Cameron and Chris.  They join our current singing leaders: Megan, Giorgio, Faye,  Caden, Greta, Holly, Henry, Keian, Lucie, Evie C, Ella R, Brooke N, Aidan E, Oliver M, Lola, Abi, Robbie, Emily S and Leoni.

The day concluded with our special Sing Up Day Celebration where over 30 parents and friends joined us. During the event children and parents took part in a special warm up and several roof-raisers were sung including ‘Be Safe’, ‘Good Day’, and ‘Game On’. Our celebration closed with a special performance of ‘There’s a Power in the Music’.  Earlier in the day the song was recorded and has been sent off to Sing Up HQ in London to be included in the National Digi-choir.

Singing is a free instrument and everyone has one! Everyone was able to take part in a very inclusive day, next year we plan to hold the Sing Up Day Singathon again!  Thank you to everyone who made this day a success.  You can continue to sing at home during the ‘Lockdown’ visit the links on our Home Learning Links site and log onto Charanga.
