Y5&6 Crummock Water

In Crummock Water we are: Scientists, Authors, Leaders, Thinkers, Explorers, Creators, Readers, Mathematicians, Performers Important, Respected and Valued.

We are a community of learners and support each other to ensure that we all move forwards in one direction – to achieve the best we can possibly be!

Underpinning all of our work, we focus on developing the 5 R’s- relationships, resourcefulness, reflecting, resilience and risk taking. It is important that we push ourselves and try new things. Our teacher, Mrs Brady, encourages us to have a go - even if it takes us out of our comfort zone. Often, this is where the optimum learning takes place and we discover new talents.

We aim to strive for five every week in Crummock! We understand how important reading is, therefore we aim to read 5 times per week and make good use of our reading records. We love reading together as a class and are currently enjoying reading our class text – Cogheart – where we have made several links in Writing, Computing, P4C and Topic.

We are really trying to push ourselves this year with our reasoning in maths, so that we become Maths Masters!  As a class, we are trying to ‘Dive Deeper’ and explore our thinking.  We question our thinking and try to find a variety of ways to solve problems.

Our topic this term is Victorians, where we will be looking into The Impact of the Railway through the Industrial Revolution. In Art, we have started to explore the work of William Morris and are looking forward to designing our own wallpaper patterns using his techniques.

Our PE days are Monday with Mr Hart and Mrs Sewell and we are lucky enough to return to the Leisure Centre for swimming lessons on a Tuesday morning, where we can practise our swimming techniques. Mr Soulsby teaches us computing and PSHE and Mrs Tuffin teaches us music.

Mrs Sewell helps us in class throughout the week. All of our adults help us learn and achieve our very best.

Mrs Brady thoroughly appreciates how hard we work and we are all looking forward to the new school year and the challenges and opportunities that we will face.  We are all looking forward to being in Year 5&6.
