Y6 Bikeabiity (May 22)

In May, many of our Year 6 pupils took part in a week-long “Bikeability” programme to boost their skills and safety awareness to enable them to cycle safely and confidently out on the roads or on trails. They began the week by working in small groups on the school grounds with their instructors to develop their confidence and mastery in basic cycle handling. After this, each small group had a further three sessions in which they went out onto the roads around school and learned how to ride safely on the road, being aware of traffic and navigating simple junctions correctly.

The children had a great time and all came away with a real sense of achievement and a greatly improved confidence. Each participant received a badge and certificate to celebrate their success. The instructors, who were from a local company called Cyclewise, were very impressed by all of the children. Well done to all who took part.
