Y5&6 Railway History Talk (Nov 2021)
Year 5 & 6 enjoyed a History talk by Martin from Community Rail Cumbria about the changes to the Railway over time. The children enjoyed spending time with Martin, who is an experienced train driver, and listened attentively to the fun and important facts he shared. They learned about the Navvies and different jobs that were created when the railway was introduced; how a steam train works and different types of locomotives; and many fun and interesting facts about how the railway impacted Penrith.
It was great for the children to listen to and ask many questions about life as a train driver!
