Y4 Elterwater

In Elterwater, we are a class of Year 4 pupils. Our teachers are Miss Braithwaite and Mrs Fairhurst. We are so happy to be back in school after the different year we had last year, and are excited to get stuck back in! As we move up the school, we are becoming much more independent and resilient learners.

We have worked together to write our own class charter. We have chosen the rules which we think are the most important to have in school, and we work really hard to make sure that we all follow these.

  • Respect everybody.
  • Look after each other.
  • Treat others as they want to be treated.
  • Follow instructions first time.
  • Show sensible behaviour so everyone can learn.

We love to use our online learning platform, FROG, to share our accomplishments and achievements both in and out of school. We also use FROG to access our homework each week, which is set on a Tuesday and returned on a Monday.

This term, we are reading ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes. We are really enjoying this text and can’t wait find out what will happen next! We have been looking closely at the interesting language and vocabulary in the book, as it is really inspirational for our own writing. We also love to ‘magpie’ ideas from each other to make our work really exciting.

In Maths, we are working on practicing our skills in order to become really confident and fluent. We work hard to ensure that we challenge ourselves to solve problems using the different methods which we have learnt. We also enjoy practicing our times tables and number facts on Sumdog and Times Tables Rockstars. We try to access these every day so that we can get really speedy. We love to take part in challenges and battles within the school, especially with our other Year 4 class, Coniston.

Our topic for this term is the Anglo-Saxons. We are looking forward to using our skills as Historians to find out all about how they lived, using sources and clues from archaeologists. We will also be using their interesting pattern designs to influence our work in Art and DT.

Our school councillors are name and name. They listen carefully to our ideas and suggestions in order to make our school the best it can be! We also have lots of monitors who are responsible for keeping our classroom organised and tidy.

Keep checking back here to see what we get up to next!
