Year 5 & 6 Elterwater

We are a class of Year 5 and 6 pupils who enjoy learning and make the most of the many opportunities on offer at North Lakes School. Our teacher is Mrs Greenwood, she makes our learning fun and enjoyable. Miss Rollings, Mrs Dennison, Mrs Todd and Mrs Varty are also around Elterwater classroom, helping us learn and achieve our best.

We are Jackson, Ellis, Sonny and Abbie – Elterwater’s Class councillors, we are always on hand to listen and promote ideas you have for our school. Everyone can use the sparking dazzling Suggestion Box (created by Jackson and his Mum!) in our classroom to place any thoughts or ideas as to how we can improve our school even further! We know children’s ideas are always considered and discussed at the regular meetings.

Each term we participate in a Reading Challenge to encourage us to read many books, magazines and newspapers. The different challenges get us to read more, reach our targets and enjoy the world of literature! We read every day in class, sometimes in a Guided session with Mrs Greenwood, sometimes as a study buddy for Year 3 or 4 pupils and other times we will be busy completing Reading Response tasks. As we say at North Lakes 'Kids Who Read Succeed!'

In Elterwater we work hard in our learning to develop the 5Rs -Relationships, Resilience, Resourcefulness, Reflecting and Risk taking.  All skills are important ingredients to success in our learning at North Lakes School. We are enquirers too, Philosophising and constantly asking questions about many aspects of our learning and life.  There is never a quiet moment in our classroom!

To complement our learning at school we have a homework schedule and we keep ourselves organised using our home school diaries. Sumdog is a fun way to keep our maths and grammar skills sharp!

We are looking forward to the year ahead in Elterwater class, we will work together to create a great learning atmosphere this year and we are looking forward to doing the best we can!
