Y6 Debating Event (March 2016)
Our Year 6 debate team, Harvey R and Reon, took part in a workshop at QEGS this term. They learnt all about the skills of debating, how to give a balanced argument and speak with confidence in front of a crowd. They then had a week to work on their debate topic – Sports people are not paid too much. This was a particularly tricky subject for the boys as they both hold strong opinions about the wages of sports men!
They worked hard at home and with Mrs Rainsley, researching the topic and gathering their points. On the day of the debate our team faced difficult opponents but were a credit to us! They put their ideas forward with confidence and really applied all of their debating skills.
