Year 3&4 Buttermere

Buttermere class is a mixture of Year 3 and 4 children. There are 25 children in our class. We are taught by Mrs Clark, Mrs Cookson and Mrs Lamb as well as Mr Yarker and Mrs Sewell for Sport. Several teaching assistants help us with our learning too. We are looking forward to continuing our exciting learning over the year.

We have decided on some rules to help us with our learning. These are our own ideas and we voted to decide how important they were.

Treat other how you would like to be treated

  • Help others
  • Focus, don’t fiddle
  • Listen to the ideas of others
  • Good looking and listening
  • Include everyone in your group
  • Ask for help if you’re stuck

We love reading and we have many great books in our book boxes. We know that reading helps our writing, so Mrs Clark and Mrs Cookson would like us to read every school night at home. In addition to reading our own books, we have read some excellent group readers this year, The Firework Markers Daughter, Krindlekrax and The Midnight Fox and our ‘page turner’ books have been Podkin One Ear by Kieran Larwood, The Midnight Gang by David Walliams and Abominables by Eva Ibbotson. For additional ideas for fantastic reading books check out www.booksfortopics.com for the 50 best books for Year 3 and  4 children to read.

Our topics this year have been ‘We like to move it, move it!’, ‘Amazing Egyptians’ and ‘Earth Rocks’. We have covered many Geography, History, Science, Art and Computing topics over the year. Some of our favourites have been studying Volcanoes and making models which we really erupted! Making our own electronic music on Isle of Tune. Presenting the weather and learning how to create our own Powerpoint presentations. As well as many others. See our learning overviews for more detail on the curriculum areas.

Our class councillors this year are Noah and Latisha and our shadow councillors are Leoni and Eddie. We know we can share all of our ideas with them and they will represent us at School Council meetings.
