Year 6 Crummock Water

In Crummock Water we are: Scientists, Authors, Leaders, Thinkers, Explorers, Creators, Readers, Mathematicians, Important, Respected and Valued.

We are a community of learners and support each other to ensure that we all move forwards in one direction – to achieve the best we can possibly be!

Underpinning all of our work, we focus on developing the 5 R’s- relationships, resourcefulness, reflecting, resilience and risk taking. It is important that we push ourselves and try new things. Our teachers, Mrs Brady and Mrs Jenner, encourage us to have a go - even if it takes us out of our comfort zone. Often, this is where the optimum learning takes place and we discover new talents.

In year 6, we are going to have a real focus on reading, as being a successful reader impacts the progress we make across all areas of the curriculum. We are thoroughly enjoying reading our class text, ‘The Explorers’. In Crummock, we all strive for 5! This means we aim to read 5x every week at home!

We are really trying to push ourselves this year with our fluency and reasoning in maths, so that we become Maths Masters!  As a class, we are trying to ‘Dive Deeper’ and explore our thinking.  We question our thinking and try to find a variety of ways to solve problems.

Our topics this term include World War Two and Earth and Space. We are looking forward to the opportunities to learn about Evacuees and Refugees.

We love Science in Crummock Water and are looking forward to learning all about our solar system!

Our PE days are Monday with Mr Hoyle & Mrs Sewell and we are attending the Leisure Centre for swimming lessons on a Wednesday, where we can practise our swimming techniques.  On Thursdays we learn an instrument with Mrs Tuffin.

Mrs Sewell helps us in class throughout the week. All of our adults help us learn and achieve our very best.

We are looking forward to having a great year in Year 6!
