Swimming (Autumn 2022)

During the autumn term, Crummock Water and Bassenthwaite enjoyed a unit of swimming sessions at Penrith Leisure Centre. Each week, they focused on improving different swimming skills including: front crawl, back stroke, breast stroke, diving and swimming lengths. One exciting session included swimming in their pyjamas to help the children understand how the weight of their clothes will feel if they ever found themselves in trouble; they also worked on their survival skills and shouting for help!

“I was glad to experience what it would be like to swim in clothes.” Alessia

“I was very proud of myself this term. I really improved my confidence and swimming skills.” Georgia.

“I liked swimming in my pyjamas because the lesson taught me what to do if I was ever in danger in the water.” Ruby H
