We are a class of Year 3 pupils who enjoy learning. Our class teacher is Mrs Greenwood. Mrs Clark works with Ullswater every Wednesday afternoon and most Thursdays. Ullswater is part of Bubble B this year working closely with Buttermere. Our teachers make our learning fun and enjoyable.  Mrs Cookson, Mrs Clarke, Miss Mc Guinness and Mrs Osborne are also around in Bubble B, helping us learn and achieve our best.

This year has been a different type of year as we continued some of our learning at home. At home and in school, we have been building our learning power so you will often hear our teachers talking about the Secrets to Success. We use these key skills in all we do to help us become lifelong, powerful learners. We follow the 5 B’s – a strategy we use when we might become stuck in our learning. Brain – Board – Book- Buddy –Boss!

In Ullswater we work hard in our learning to develop our schools learning traits – The 5Rs. Relationships, Resilience, Resourcefulness, Reflecting and Risk taking.  All skills are important ingredients to success in our learning at North Lakes School. We are enquirers too, Philosophising and constantly asking questions about many aspects of our learning and life.  

There is never a quiet moment in our classroom! We will also be sharing our learning on our online platform site FROG – watch out for our proud pieces and points of interest on our timeline. During periods of lockdown learning, we communicate with our teachers and receive homework assignments via FROG.

When working in school, we have a homework schedule to keep ourselves organised.  All homework assignments are sent on a Friday via FROG.

Sumdog and Times Table Rock Stars is a fun way to keep our maths skills sharp. We all have our own Rock Names and compete in battles of the Bands within school and with other schools in our local community. In lessons, we are developing a mastery approach in our maths learning, promoting enquiring minds to gain a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. When we are writers, we read and use models demonstrating great techniques from many popular authors as well as our teachers. We look forward to sharing our work on FROG in the ‘proud pieces’ section.

During the Summer term our topic learning will focus on the Stone Age period and exploring volcanoes. Our class councillors, Will and Erica along with our shadow councillors, Baxter and Roxy will be working as hard on developments to make our school the best place it can be. They are currently making a video about our school to share with all the new arrivals in September.

We have become an Eco school recently and we have two eco councillors to help develop key ideas and share top tips with us all to help us look after our school and the world environment. Martha and Rowan are leading the way with this.
