After a long and trying year we were delighted to be able to hold our Annual Sports Day on Friday 9th July. This had not even been possible in 2020 and so we were glad to go ahead, even if we couldn’t run our normal collaborative team challenge events.
Instead, we focused on athletics, with sprinting, running and throwing events. Every child was involved over two weeks of qualifying to represent their team. During qualifying, the children competed for the Teamwork Award, and when these scores (for participation, attitude and co-operation) were added up, the totals were as follows:
The fastest and strongest qualifiers in each event then progressed to Finals Day.
240 competitors took part in 32 events on the day, cheered on by an enthusiastic whole school audience.

Thank you to our generous local sponsors who provided free mineral water; and the children enjoyed an ice lolly as an extra treat after a real festival of athletics on a warm day.
