Y3 Swimming (Jul 22)

This term, Year 3 have been walking down to Penrith Leisure Centre to take part in swimming lessons. This block of lessons ran for 10 weeks and allowed the children to work on all of their different strokes, build their water confidence and learn how to keep themselves safe in water. Everybody showed great resilience and took part with a risk-taking and positive attitude. From the start, the children were incredibly supportive of each other and helped each other to overcome their fears.

During our water safety sessions, the children wore their pyjamas in the pool to  experience the feeling of being in the water with clothes on. Everybody learnt how to keep their bodies floating and discussed possible dangers when out and about around water in day to day life. We even spoke about how to help someone without putting ourselves in danger, which is very important to know living in the Lake District!

We would like to thank all of our brilliant instructors down at Penrith Leisure Centre, who made our lessons fun and engaging. We would also like to say a massive thank you to our parent helpers and staff who have walked us down every single week- we could not do it without your help and dedication!
