In great weather on Monday 1st July, Year 3 took part in their own Outdoor Adventure, spending a long and busy day in Borrowdale, canoeing, rock climbing and kayaking. 33 children took part and had an exciting, challenging time. They really pushed themselves in the climbing, and learned to belay each other safely as they abseiled down the rock face. A lot of fun was had on the water and, when the children had learned to control and steer their kayak, there was plenty of opportunity to get soaking wet as they jumped into Derwent Water! Well done to the children for their attitude and teamwork - thanks to all staff who led the visit.

HAWSE END — A CHILD’S VIEW
This term Year 3 had a fantastic outdoor day, they climbed, kayaked and canoed from Hawse End centre. They were lucky with the weather, as they took risks by climbing and showed excellent relationships, supporting each other in teams as they scaled the crag. Many of the children showed great resilience and managed to climb to the top. There were some super star climbers in both groups. Kayaking on Derwent Water was a new experience for most of the group; they really rose to the challenge, working well as teams and having great fun playing games in the kayaks. On the canoes, the Year 3's practised all of their skills - rowing standing up, climbing across the raft and dunking their heads in the lake! After a quick swim and water fight we were all shattered and ready for home. Check out our video and pictures online.
