What a fantastic link we have established with Winter's Park, the Bupa Residential Home in Penrith. Several of our Y5/6 children have ventured up to Winter's Park each Friday afternoon during Golden Time. Taking reading books and poetry, we have read and entertained our friends - and told an odd joke or two! Real friendships have been forged, some afternoons the children and their friends have enjoyed a good chat, sharing news of mutual friends, events of the week and trips planned.
Several Winter's Park guests joined us for dinner at our school recently. They read with us before lunch, then we sat and shared a gorgeous roast dinner and lemon pudding - thanks to Fiona our cook!
On June 21st our school choir and reading group went up to Winter's Park as they celebrated a national event and we added to the entertainment.
We hope to continue our project in September as our link is thriving, real friendships have been formed and it is a great afternoon for all involved.
