ULL Rivers Day (Jun 22)

This term our Year 3 and 4 classes have all loved visiting the River Eamont to support their learning in Geography on Rivers. They were delighted to be joined by Tania - our local education officer from Eden Rivers Trust. She was not only passionate in sharing her wealth of knowledge about our local rivers and the habitats they create for wildlife, but also gave us a superb practical activity to help us understand ways in which we can keep our beautiful rivers clean and healthy- just ask any Year 3 or 4’s about the 3 P’s!

We were amazed to discover just how much life rivers support by conducting some river dipping surveys and were delighted to find invertebrates such as the rock clinger, cased caddis fly lava, mayfly nymphs as well as some amazingly rare bullhead fish. Our thanks go to Tania and the many parent helpers who came along to support us-all classes had the best days and only a few wet feet and a drowned mobile phone (sorry Mrs Wild!) made for very successful trips!
