As part of Y6’s D&T topic this term we have continued our partnership with Sainsbury's Penrith, and welcomed Alison and the Bakery Team into school to bake bread with us, also along with Fiona our cook. We had two excellent afternoons where we found out all about bread and how it was made. Then we got stuck in, literally!
We carefully measured, mixed and kneaded our ingredients and waited for the dough to prove. Luckily, to speed up the process, Fiona had prepared a second batch of dough ready for us to shape into our artisan rolls - they were so fantastic and tasted great.
The dough that we had prepared was then used in the kitchen for the bread for lunches for the rest of the week - the children said it was delicious! A big thank you must go to Fiona, and everyone down at Sainsbury's for continuing to support our learning.
