Year 5 Elterwater

In Elterwater we are: Scientists, Authors, Leaders, Thinkers, Explorers, Creators, Readers, Mathematicians, Important, Respected, Valued.

Our class teacher, Mrs Brady, helps to make our learning fun and enjoyable. She loves to display our creative work all around the classroom and celebrate all of our achievements. In Elterwater, the classroom walls are fun, bright and bursting with resources along with cool facts to help us learn! Did you know that there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth? That’s at least a billion trillion!

Our science topic this half term is going to be “Out of this World” as we learn all about Earth and Space!

Our topic this term is all about ‘Celebrating Peace’. We will be focusing our learning around World War 1 and how it affected those in our local area. We can’t wait to start our Celebrating Peace project!

Let’s get reading! ‘You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.’ – Dr Seuss.

Elterwater’s reading competition this term - I would like someone you know to take a picture of you reading in the most unique, interesting and unusual place! How far can you take your reading?!? Upload your pictures to Frog or pin them onto our classroom reading display. Prizes will be given out to the children who are caught reading in the most unusual places!

This challenge is to encourage us to read many books, newspapers and magazines. Let’s all reach our targets and enjoy a world of literature! Our class text this term is Floodland by Marcus Sedgwick.

PE - We are lucky to have Mr Gibson teach us for PE every Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure you keep your kit in school every day, just incase we decide to do some active maths.

Let’s eat Mrs Brady! Let’s eat, Mrs Brady! Remember commas save lives!

What did the triangle say to the circle? You’re pointless.

Remember to visit sumdog regularly to keep on top of your math and grammar skills!

School Councillors - Oscar and Olivia are Elterwater’s Class councillors along with Ryan and Holly as our class Shadows. Our councillors are always on hand to listen to your questions and promote any ideas you have to help our school improve further!

We are looking forward to the year ahead in Elterwater class, we will work together to create a vibrant learning atmosphere this year and we are looking forward to doing the best we can!
