Y5 are welcomed to the 60's - Hairspray at QEGS (Nov 2018)

On Wednesday 21st November Y5 walked to the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Penrith to watch their production of Hairspray. As soon as we arrived, the children were seated in the hall and enjoyed listening to the orchestra practise their instruments. Soon the lights dimmed and the curtains opened to reveal the amazing scenery and costumes. The children were blown away by the opening song, ‘Good Morning Baltimore’ and they danced along with excitement. Y5 were so lucky to be invited to the production at QEGS which they thoroughly enjoyed!

This is what Y5 thought about the production:

  • Natalia, “Edna, Tracey’s mum, was so funny! She was my favourite character in the production.”
  • Holly, “I’ve never seen Hairspray before so it was a really big treat for me!”
  • Evie, “I enjoyed the songs and dancing. The Corny Collins Show was my favourite scene, he was really cheesy.”
  • Tia, “Tracey was my favourite because her costume and hair was amazing.”
  • Oscar, “The male character played a really good role as Edna, he was very comical.”

Well done to everyone at QEGS for a great production and thank you for inviting us!
