Y6 Spellbinding Reading Challenge (July 2021)
A number of Year 6 children have taken part in the popular Spellbinding competition this Summer. The challenge was to read as many books as you could from the shortlist of 11 and collect stickers for your passport along the way. From the hundreds of brilliant books published during 2020-21, the Cumbria Library Service selected a shortlist of 11 popular books, which would enthuse and excite the children about reading.
Our children were excited to take part in the reading challenge! The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading a wide variety of new books, which have challenged and motivated all children in the competition to read on a daily basis! A frequent comment was, “I can’t wait to read the next book.”
The children voted for their favourite book and we would like to say congratulations to Jane Elson for her wonderful heart-warming animal story “Moon Dog!”
