Y6 Deekabout with Alex in Borrowdale (Summer 2010)

Working with Alex Whitworth in Borrowdale was a fantastic start to our Y6 project. She helped us develop some new art skills. We painted some fabulous watercolours. She taught us how to mix and paint in perspective.
Alex introduced us to Joseph Cornell, who made boxes to keep his disabled brother entertained. He placed inside the boxes interesting items    and collections. We collected items for our Cornell boxes and took many photographs. Our boxes contained our favourite themes and memories. Some followed a particular theme. We organised letters in nature. For example, ‘Inspired’ was a word we placed amongst an inspiring collection of leaves.
Back in school we did lots of mono prints, photographed ourselves within the school environment and laminated favourite pieces from our nature collection. Thank you Alex.
