On Tuesday 3rd May, Year 4 arrived at Fellside Centre, Caldbeck, ready for their residential to begin. It was beautiful. The idyllic Edwardian shooting lodge was all ours for 2 whole days! Soon after arriving, the children were put into their groups: Squirrels, Foxes and Badgers and we got kitted out to start our adventure!
Over the course of the 2 days the children completed 5 activities. Canoeing took place on Bassenthwaite Water; Rock Climbing at Scarness; Ghyll scrambling at Hay Ghyll; and Archery, Team Building and Orienteering at Fellside. The children were impeccably behaved, polite and courteous and were outstanding ambassadors for North Lakes School. Mr Pincombe, Mrs Smith, Mrs Cookson and Mrs Kelly were extremely proud of the whole team. All children showed real leadership skills and great support for one another, making it a memorable and hugely worthwhile visit.
‘I loved the ghyll scrambling because we got really wet and fell in the water whenever we wanted to! We had to walk right up the middle of the ghyll and work together as a team to help one another.’ Katie W
‘Rock climbing was my favourite because I realised I had the skills to be successful and reach the top!’ Mason
‘It was my first time at ghyll scrambling and I loved it. The cold water was so much fun!’ Neehal
‘Archery was great fun. We got to shoot at our aliens! It was something new that I had never tried before!’ Amy F
‘It was really fun to learn how to use the bow and arrow in archery’ Reese
‘It was really fun when we got to know each other during team building. We had to work together to complete the challenge.’ Charlotte
