Titanic (Spring 2012)

After a whole term of hard work, researching and developing our knowledge about the Titanic we decided to hold an afternoon of entertainment and refreshments to celebrate our learning.

We all designed an invite to give to our family, which we took home. We wanted to get as many people as possible to attend as the money we make is going towards our trip to Maryport after the Easter holidays.

Mrs Phillips kindly gave up her time to bake with the classes to make scones and biscuits to serve to the parents as part of their ‘High Tea’.

Each class performed a different piece for the parents. Ullswater class shared their fascinating facts, Coniston class shared their writing and art and Buttermere class performed their dance piece from the U dance festival. We added our favourite songs and some dance moves. Mrs Batley acted as our narrator, moving the acts along and keeping everyone right!

After the performance we welcomed the adults to enjoy our homemade cakes and a cup of tea, with all profits going towards our trip. Some of Buttermere class worked as waiters and waitresses to help the parents, which they really enjoyed. We made a total of £65, which is an excellent achievement.

Many thanks to the parents, grandparents, family and friends who came along for the afternoon. We were delighted to see so many of you.

Mrs Rainsley may have retired last summer, but she has once again been a regular helper at North Lakes School this term. To support our Titanic topic, Mrs Rainsley came in and helped the children to prepare a ‘high tea’, including making White Star Line biscuits, cucumber sandwiches (excluding crusts!) and even setting the table. The children then enjoyed the fruits of their labour!
Thanks, Mrs Rainsley!
