In the final week of term, two uplifting performance of the Snow Queen were played to a packed Hall full of parents and friends. This wintry classic Hans Christian Andersen tale was set to music, and performed with sparkle and character by two completely different casts of children. Many congratulations go to all of the children for providing such first class Christmas entertainment.
The musical performance brought to life the dramatic story of Gerda (played by Megan and Abby), on her faithful quest to rescue Kay (Shay and Tyler) while avoiding the wicked Snow Queen (Emily and Ruby).
A host of other characters along the journey included a grandma, a king and queen, some deadly sprites, crows, robbers, trees, servants, children, and snowflakes… all of these parts and two whole casts made this a triumphant team effort.
The many costumes were spectacular, and a big thank you must go to Sue Grainger and Sheila Brooks for their great work over the past few weeks with these. Miss Baker spent many hours preparing props and scenery which created the chilly setting.
All of the teachers helped to prepare the children’s parts and singing, but special thanks to Miss Rollings for co-ordinating the drama and dance - and to Mr Soulsby for the excellent singing. All of these ingredients combined to serve up a real pre-Christmas treat.
