The London Residential - Y5&6 (Mar 2017)

Oh what a fantastic time Year 5&6 had in London!

We were a credit to our parents, carers and teachers.  We loved every minute of the visit, asking questions and showing interest in everything that we did.

Virgin Trains looked after us on our journey to and from London, and the underground staff were always very helpful.

Although we were nervous when we first started uses the ‘Tube’, by the Friday we were helping manage our travelling and could find our way to the appropriate platforms. It was very exciting hanging from the Straps of the Underground trains, and we were quite willing to offer our seats to other passengers!

We were busy from the off!  We visited the Tower of London, the Science and Natural History Museums and The National Art Gallery. Each museum offered something quite different and we had a taste of everything from Dinosaurs to a famous painting brought alive by a very knowledgeable artist!  A favourite for everyone was the Science Museum with the ‘Wonderlab’ of exciting interactive science experiments.

Matilda the Musical was just superb, a fantastic show with great songs and music. Several of us were still singing them as we caught the tube back to the youth hostel!

The Youth Hostel at St Paul’s was fabulous. We had two very comfortable nights’ sleep and hearty breakfasts before we started our day. Our packed lunches were substantial and kept us going until dinner time.  We must mention the ‘Rainforest Café ‘in Piccadilly. It was just superb, and a great dining experience. The staff were very attentive and the food delicious! There were no empty plates and we would recommend it to anyone!

Our three day trip was full of activities. We walked over 26 miles - on the first day covering 10.6 miles as we toured the familiar sights of Central London.  Everyone enjoyed the sights and sounds of a bustling city!

We all embraced this city experience and looked after one another. Cheerful smiles and supportive words kept everyone together as we enjoyed our new experiences.

Now some of us would like to return with our families for another adventure. We could even show them around!
