Sumdog Champions (Dec 2017)

When it comes to Maths and Sumdog, we are beginning to sound like a broken record!  North Lakes are mathematical superstars; we have won the Cumbria Sumdog Maths Contest again! This time, Rydal Maths Group hurtled into 1st place, winning the competition with 697 points. Elterwater Maths took 2nd place with 601 points, and Windermere Maths group were 4rd in Cumbria with 334 points. Bassenthwaite Maths were 5th, Ullswater Maths were 7th, Buttermere Maths were 8th and Coniston were 9th overall!

It is a fantastic achievement to have all of our classes in the Cumbrian top 10 - daily winners in the contest included Elterwater, Rydal, Ullswater and Windermere. The congratulations don’t stop there, as North Lakes also had 46 of the top 50 students in Cumbria – that’s the best we have ever achieved!

Each competitor could answer a maximum of 1000 questions each. Simona was 4th in Cumbria with a tremendous 933 correct. Aidan E was 5th with 919 correct, Raisa-Bianca was 6th with 908, Andra P 8th with 895, Rob S 9th with 891 and Charlotte was 10th with 886.  Well done to you all!  We are so proud of everyone who has taken part in this competition – each participant received a special Myths and Legends Sumdog outfit for their avatar, and the winners Rydal Maths have won another free 30 pupil subscriptions for the school!

Children really need to visit Sumdog on a regular basis as it helps to develop and revise their basic Maths and English Skills - it is proven to sharpen our skills and is great fun.
