Friday 21st March was billed as a Marvellous Day for Sport Relief and the children and families of North Lakes School certainly made a marvellous effort to raise funds for this fantastic cause.
Inspired by the exploits of stars like Davina McCall with her seven day bike ride, and Alex Jones with her three day 1,200 ft sheer rock climb, the children challenged themselves in the North Lakes Sport Relief mile.
Everybody completed the mile, 6 laps of the trim trail, while others ran two, and some more than three miles!
The school was a riot of colour with children taking up the Sport Relief theme in some marvellous red or sporty costumes. Each class had a prize winning costume – congratulations to: Amy (Coniston), Anya (Ullswater), Bradley (Rydal), Declan (Elterwater), Finlay (Buttermere) and Josh (Windermere). Well done also to the runners-up: Alice (Rydal), Robert (Coniston).
In the whole school assembly the children learned about some of the projects supported by Sport Relief, including one which aims to help children who are forced to work in developing countries.
The day was topped off with a special Sport Relief menu at lunchtime and in the end we raised a marvellous £150, adding our donation to the grand total of at least £57 million for 2014!
