Sports Day (Jul 22)

This year Sports Day at North Lakes School was held in two parts. The children competed well, and everyone  contributed to the points totals for their team, taking part in a number of events.

A Junior Warrior Challenge, organized by Action Ants, saw all of the children complete an obstacle course on the school field including hurdles, dodgeball, a crawling net and a water slide.  Competitors gathered points for their team each time they completed a circuit, as well as being marked for collaboration and teamwork.

On Friday 8 July, the Sports Day Finals were held. All children had already taken part in practice and qualifying events in a 60m sprint and long race, as well as shot putt and javelin events. The best  performers on the track were selected for the finals of each race, while each team provided their best throwers for the field events.

Medals were presented to the winners of each event by Mowit Kale, an Indian cricket  professional who has worked with us in school this year. This was a really colourful and  enjoyable afternoon, with keen support from team mates and a large crowd of parents. Thank you all for your support, and to Mrs Greenwood, staff, and the Action Ants for organising the  exciting events.

Our eventual Performance Points winners were Great  Gable – with final scores as follows:   Great Gable 1077;  Helvellyn 1017; Blencathra 955; Red Pike 844

In the important Teamwork Event, Red Pike  triumphed, and the final scores were: Red Pike 365; Helvellyn 346;  Blencathra 338; Great Gable 334
