This term we have been involved with a number of different sports coaches who come into school to offer short programmes covering a range of activities:
BADMINTON- Some of the Year 3 and 4 children benefitted from a three week programme run by Ben Davidson from the North Cumbrian Performance Centre on Badminton skills. Children were taught the basic skills, hitting shots over the net and participating in a number of exciting drills to help improve skills. This was an exciting opportunity and a new activity for most children. If you enjoyed these sessions or fancy learning more about this sport then pop along to Penrith Leisure Centre who will advise you of club nights or how to hire a court to take your family along on a rainy day!
DANCE – Year 6 have had a wonderful time working with dancer Jane Fullerton who has helped them to choreograph a routine which is being used to take part in some flash mobs around our town! Read the main article for full details.
CRICKET - All Year 5 and 6 pupils have benefitted from an intense 10 week course with Penrith cricketer Alex Atkinson. Alex joined us every Thursday for the Summer term and gave inputs on a range of different skills whilst making the game fun and enjoyable. A few more pupils have been attending the Penrith club which runs sessions on a Wednesday night. The season is almost over but if you fancy going along to the sessions just come along to Penrith Cricket Club on a Wednesday at 6pm.
