RND 2015 - Making Funny Faces for Money (March 2015)

Friday the 13th was a day to remember this March in North Lakes School - for all the right reasons. Through the combined efforts of children, parents and staff we raised a fantastic £270 for Comic Relief, and so contributed to the record breaking total of £78 million raised this Red Nose Day. What is more, because the UK Government has promised to match fund the money raised in primary schools, our efforts at North Lakes will have made a final donation of £540 to Comic Relief, which is BRILLIANT!

This year the focus was on Making Funny Faces, with money raised going towards a campaign to get 300,000 children in Africa to school for the first time. All members of the school community joined in the fun, with many children in crazy red costumes, while learning in the classroom for the day focused on Philosophy and explored our understanding of global issues including poverty, and how we can make a difference.

Thank you to all our bakers who made some delicious cakes which we sold to raise funds during morning break time. Congratulations to our “Red Nose Bake Off” winners: Pawel and Tymon, Melissa, Abby H, Gracie, Max, Ollie, Katie G and Leah LW. Thank you so much to our hard working face painters: Miss Baker, Mrs Hodgson, Mrs Currie, Ms Harani and Mrs Hope. Well done to everyone who joined in a fabulous performance of the Red Nose Day Song in school, and to the Choir who were excellent ambassadors for us all, entertaining shoppers and raising even more money at Sainsbury’s in the afternoon!
