St Catherine’s School invited the Poetry club of North Lakes to the Herald Newspaper Office to learn more about how a newspaper evolved from the initial report to appearing as a Newspaper to be sold each Friday evening within Penrith and the surrounding area.
It was an eventful evening. The small group of children went upstairs to get a real glimpse at a newspaper office. We looked at the different reports that were submitted. and learned that the reporters often had a special job such as a sports reporter. We met the editor who checked that the newspaper pages were organised to perfection. We learned how to attract readers with an exciting headline. The journalists office was small but bustling with life, everyone was busy working to deadlines so that the newspaper could be out on time. We were thrilled that the staff made time for us. We know St Catherine’s also enjoyed their visit. We hope to spend more time working alongside them.
