NLS becomes a BRONZE SAPERE P4C School (Spring 2012)

We are very pleased to announce that North Lakes School has become one of the first six school in the UK to be awarded a Bronze Award for our work using Philosophy for Children (P4C)

We were invited to pilot this new award due to our innovative approaches to P4C. In order to achieve the award, both schools had to submit evidence of planning and review, children's learning, classroom practice, professional development and show how they were involving the whole school and wider community in P4C.

SAPERE (the organization responsible for developing P4C) have said that due to the high standard of our application they would like us to pilot the Silver and Gold awards over the coming months, alongside Armathwaite Community School who also received the award.

At an awards ceremony at Armathwaite, 14 children from North Lakes received the award from Julia Morrison, Director of Children’s Services.

Many thanks to all of the parents who contribute toward the children’s Thinking Journals. Why not have a look at our Philosophy Pages on the school website
