Mummification (March 2015)
This term in our Personal Project time, Windermere have been looking at mummifying. We discovered that they took out the vital organs and placed them in Canopic Jars. The jars had one of four creatures’ heads on, Jackal, Human, Baboon and Flacon, and each had its own purpose:
- Human Head – Liver
- Falcon Head – Intestines
- Baboon Head – Lungs
- Jackal Head – Stomach.
We then made our own canopic jars out of pots, clay and Papier Mache. Then we got the chance to do our own mummification, where we mummified oranges!
