This term many children across the school have attended Gym club with Mrs Clark, Mrs Elwood and Mrs Greenwood. The children have been practicing their body management routines, which involves a learnt routine including splits, bridge, japana and other moves.
They have been working on their floor routines, putting together a series of moves including handstand to forward roll, two cartwheels, half lever, round off and other joining moves. The third skill we have been working on is the vault, an exciting leap from a spring board over the gymnastic horse.
All of the children have been working extremely hard, their confidence has improved and they have been performing like gymnasts with pointed toes and fingers! Well done to all of the children for their commitment and hard work over this term.
Teachers now have the difficult decision of choosing squad members who will go on to compete at the end of January. All successful Gymnasts will be informed asap. In the meantime if you have enjoyed Gymnastics then there are local classes on Mondays after school and Saturdays at Penrith Leisure Centre. If interested please contact Amy Drinkall for further details.
