Governor Corner (Dec 2022)

This autumn term has seen a sense of normality returning to school life for the pupils, staff, parents and carers following two years of disruption.  However, the school is still very aware that COVID is still around and follow all the guidelines issued by the various authorities with a continual emphasis on hygiene to keep all safe and well.

As you will know, the Headteacher, Mr Pincombe, will be retiring in August 2023 after nearly 14 years in the role at the school.  It is the responsibility of the school Governors to recruit and appoint a new Headteacher for September 2023 with advice from the local authority and our HR providers.  An advert for the position has been placed with Cumbria County Council and the TES (formerly the Times Educational Supplement) with details also on the school website.  We will update you on progress in the spring 2023 newsletter.

As we approach the end of this term, we will be saying goodbye to Mr Soulsby and Mrs Parkinson and the Governors would like to express their thanks and gratitude for all they have done for the school.  We wish them all the best in their new ventures.

A vacancy has arisen for a parent governor to join the governing board and a formal notification will be sent out in the new year asking for nominations.  This is your opportunity to become involved and influence the direction of the school for the future.  If you are interested in joining us and would like more information, please contact the chair of governors via the school office or speak to Mr Pincombe.

We would like to wish you all a merry Christmas, a happy new year and look forward to seeing you in January at the start of the spring term.
