Family Learning in ICT (Spring 2013)

Family Learning is a service provided by Cumbria County Council and offers a range of courses for parents and carers which are usually run in schools, children’s centres and other local venues. The courses include joint sessions where parents and children work together, as well as separate learning time for parents and children.

Family Learning courses help mothers, fathers, grandparents and carers to:
• Have fun with their child whilst learning
• Support their children’s learning and development
• Improve their own skills.

North Lakes School is currently hosting a twelve week Family Learning ICT course. Parents and children are learning to use a range of software and techniques using the school’s ICT suite and laptops, recent sessions have focused on the use of the Internet .

On Monday 14th January the Family Learning Group visited the new fire station in Penrith to see how ICT is used to support the work of the Rescue Services.
