Fairtrade 'Fairshare' Fortnight (Spring 2018)

During the first few weeks of March, we explored what it means for farmers and producers to be a member of the Fairtrade Foundation. We invited each other to ‘Come On In’ to our classrooms, shared learning, quizzes and special Fairtrade treats- which went down a storm! Some classes held bake sales selling luscious lemonade, chocolate brownies, strawberry and banana smoothies, chocolate milkshakes and banana splits!

Fairtrade is a simple way to make a difference to the lives of the people who grow the things we love- especially bananas and chocolate! By choosing products with the Fairtrade logo, we learnt that the farmers will be paid a fair wage, that no children will have been involved in the production of the product, and that steps will have been taken to protect the environment around the area the product has been produced.  Watch this space to see how we intend to keep Fairtrade alive at North Lakes School!
