County Kwik Cricket Finals (July 2016)

After the first date being rained off, ten excited and hopeful cricketers set off in the rain in hope the weather would clear by the time we got to Keswick on 8th July. It certainly did and so we were able to play by mid-morning. We knew this would be a tough competition as we were playing amongst the best in the county! Our first game against Fairfield went well and we made 280 runs in 8 overs to the Cockermouth team’s 246.

Our second game against was a close encounter with the overall winners of the tournament – Victoria Juniors - and unfortunately our fielding let us down as they won by 32 runs. Our final games was against Hawkshead. Fielding first, we made a good effort to take wickets and some catches and went into bat hopeful that we could win this game. But Hawkshead fielded well and took many catches so they managed to keep our score down to 228 and win the game. Congratulations must go to all our boy cricketers for a very successful season in 2016!
