Year 3&4 Buttermere

Buttermere class is a mixture of Year 3 and 4 children. There are 25 children in our class. We are taught by Mrs Clark and Mrs Cookson as well as Mr Gibson for Sport. Several teaching assistants help us with our learning too. We are looking forward to some exciting learning over the next school year.

We have decided on some rules to help us with our learning. These are our own ideas and we voted to decide how important they were.

Treat other how you would like to be treated

  • Help others
  • Focus, don’t fiddle
  • Listen to the ideas of others
  • Good looking and listening
  • Include everyone in your group
  • Ask for help if you’re stuck

We love reading and we have many great books in our book boxes. We know that reading helps our writing, so Mrs Clark and Mrs Cookson would like us to read every school night at home. In addition to reading our own books, we are going to be reading The Firework Markers Daughter in our Guided Reading session and our ‘page turner’ book is Podkin One Ear by Kieran Larwood.

Our topic this term is ‘We like to move it, move it!’ as the title suggests we are thinking about how our bodies move and how to keep our bodies healthy. In Science, we have been thinking about how Usain Bolt runs so quickly and are excited to see if we can work out why!

We are also going to be researching about the Stone Age in our History lessons and have already had and exciting start to our learning during our ‘Stone Age Day’  Make sure you look at our Learning Overview to see the other exciting topics we will be learning about this term.

Our class councillors this year are Noah and Latisha and our shadow councillors are Leoni and Eddie. We know we can share all of our ideas with them and they will represent us at School Council meetings.
