This year, Bassenthwaite class is a Year 5 and 6 class.  Our class teacher is Mrs Greenwood and on a Thursday, it’s Mrs Ward.  We have History with Ms Rollings and Computing and PSHE with Mr Soulsby.   We have had a successful start to the new school year; already our classroom is looking bright and exciting.

In Bassenthwaite, we are: Scientists,  Authors,  Leaders, Thinkers, Explorers, Creators, Readers, Mathematicians, Philosophers, Performers and Sports people who like to give their best in all we do. We follow our school code of conduct and use the Secrets of Success to be the very best we can be. We:-

• Understand others
• Work hard
• Concentrate
• Push ourselves
• Imagine.

Underpinning all of our learning, we focus on developing the 5 R’s- relationships, resourcefulness, reflecting, resilience and risk taking. It is important that we push ourselves and try new things. We learning from our mistakes (often called Marvellous Mistakes!) and we are always encouraged to have a go - even if it takes us out of our comfort zone. Often, this is where the optimum learning takes place and we discover new talents! Independent learning is key and as a class we like to follow the 5 B’s – a strategy we use when we become stuck in our learning. Brain – Board – Book- Buddy –Boss!

We are looking forward to the year ahead in Bassenthwaite class. We will work together to create a great learning atmosphere. Our class councillors, Keira and Ruby along with  shadow councillors Cameron and Jacob.  Our Eco Warriors, Elsie and Cameron,  will be working as hard as they can to help make life at North Lakes a fun and challenging experience.
