Orienteering Competition (Apr 2018)

Early in the Summer Term, 12 Year 6’s ventured to Newton Rigg to participate in the Eden orienteering competition. After an explanation of how to use the equipment, the children tackled the muddy course at speed, whilst accurately reading the map. It was not as easy as it sounds, with 3 parallel courses running at once, and the children had to have a sharp eye to look for fence lines or particular land marks that they could reference to direct them at speed.

Despite none of the children ever competing in an orienteering competition before, all managed to finish the course in good time, showing excellent support and team work along the way!
