Harvest Festival (Oct 2017)

We enjoyed performing our poetry at the Harvest Festival.  Each class had been inspired by our Poet in resident ‘Andy Tooze’ the ‘Poet from the Peaks’. He was great fun and his poems were varied. Some of them made us laugh they were so humorous.  All of us felt like poets at the end of his visit, and we wrote our own.  Andy shared his poetry and he inspired us to perform our Harvest poems. We read them as whole classes, as individuals and some us even signing in Makaton!

Our harvest table was groaning with fresh produce and a hedgehog or two.  We had an abundance of vegetables, always great for soup or a hearty, nutritious meal.  Generous families at our school thought of others as they donated food for the Salvation Army in Hunter Lane.

The Salvation Army work with the community within and around Penrith. They provide meals at the Salvation Army for individuals and families throughout the week. They are even cooking on Christmas Day.  The two Majors Carol and Alan Donaldson came to school to enjoy our Harvest Festival Poetry and to receive our gifts.

The Salvation Army are always ready to help many of our family and friends. They are very good partners to North Lakes School. So many of our children attend the Salvation Army Youth club on a Friday evening at 6.30pm.
