It's been a very productive and successful year for the new look PTA, Friends of North Lakes School (FoNLS)!  We have had eight exciting events for parents and children, over the last year:  Halloween Sparkle Disco, Chocolate Bingo Evening, Reindeer Drive, Friendship Disco, Easter Family Chocolate Bingo, Fashion Show and a Summer Ball, which is coming up at the time of writing.

On each occasion we have had fantastic support from a few faithful teachers, teaching assistants, wonderful volunteer parents, grandparents, friends and carers. It is a real joy to be part of such a close knit, dedicated and reliable community project.

And all this has meant we can all be very proud of the fact we have raised over £2000 to buy new books for the school!  But that's not all. We are well on the way to funding "Clicker 7", which is a fully interactive computer based teaching tool, which can be accessed at home or school and will support our children with reading and writing, helping North Lakes School to maintain its ‘Best Use of Technology’ and Computing at Schools Lead School status.

Special mentions are due for amazing Angela Nellis in the office, without whom none of this would happen, dedicated Treasurers Karen Barbier and John Lancaster and the awesome Ms Rollings who keeps it all on the road!

This term, HUGE THANKS to top parent Kelly Thompson who came up with the brilliant idea of the Fashion Show at M&Co, which was a great night of fashionable frolics and retail therapy for a happy band of parents and pupils. With thanks to Steven, Manager of the store, and also to Greggs for providing sweet treats and to Costa for the coffee and hot chocolate!

We have volunteer roles aplenty providing valuable work experience, something to put on your CV and to get you out and about meeting people who want to give our children the best social events and school equipment we can muster, in a positive, friendly and inclusive environment.

The commitment is minimal but the benefits to you and your children invaluable. What's not to like?!  We are currently looking for Vice Chairs (two roles), Events Refreshments Manager, Raffle Manager, Events Catering Manager and in the future, Auction of Promises Coordinator. We also need a dedicated, reliable team of parents to help out at Events.
