School meals are provided by Orian, who publish a menu with two hot choices each day, a salad bar, and a range of drinks over the week. 

The food is all freshly cooked on the premises with as much local produce as possible.

Why not give our school meals a try? 

The price of school meals from September 2025 is £3.40 per day, (£17.00 p/w). School meals are healthy and your support for this service helps the children’s learning.

Some parents prefer to send their child with a packed lunch. If this is the case, please remember that packed lunches should provide a healthy balance of food groups and a suitable drink. This really helps children’s learning and their behaviour. We ask that nuts, sweets, chocolate, fried crisps and fizzy drinks are not sent into school.

School Hub: order school meals online

Using School Hub

Thank you to all of those parents/carers who are using the online School Hub system for their children’s school meals.  This has many advantages and is very convenient for both families and for the school.

Our school uses the online School Hub system as the only means of ordering and paying for school meals, unless there are exceptional circumstances, which would have to be authorised by the school.

It is important that any families who are not currently using the School Hub system please contact the school office as soon as possible. We can then issue a School Hub username and password, so everyone can access the system. Thank you for your help with this!

A good range of fresh home-cooked meals are provided each day by Orian Solutions, and cooked in our kitchen on site. A three week menu is available on the website and meals are ordered online via Orian’s ‘school hub’. Children are able to select from a choice of options. The menu includes a variety of healthy, well-balanced meals, including a vegetarian option and a salad bar, working towards government nutritional guidelines. Our School Council meet with Dion, our chef, to give feedback on meals and plan new suggestions.

Free school meals

If you think that your child may be entitled to free school meals, applications can be made online by accessing the Westmorland and Furness Council website.  If you are unable to apply online, please telephone the Free School Meals Team at the local authority on 0300 3733300.  Families are encouraged to apply for free school meal funding, as this is a valuable grant which also provides additional opportunities for the children through ‘Pupil Premium’ funding.  The strictest confidentiality is maintained over the issue and children are not identified in the school.  If you are successful in your FSM application, you will also receive clothing vouchers to go towards the cost of school uniform.

Packed lunches

Children who bring packed lunches are able to eat with those having school meals. For the health and wellbeing of the children, while being fair and equitable to all, we ask that all packed lunches brought from home and consumed in school provide pupils with healthy and nutritional food that meets national standards. We advocate a balanced packed lunch, and we ask that children do not bring chocolate, sweets, salty snacks or fizzy drinks. Please note, due to severe allergies, we are a nut free school.
