Year 4 have returned tired but happy after a busy, challenging and fun-filled two days at Hawse End. In great weather, fifty children showed great teamwork and positive attitudes as they tackled some great outdoor challenges including ghyll scrambling, rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, archery and problem solving. During the evening, children enjoyed a scavenger hunt, orienteering challenge, bush craft and fire making, before a spot of bat watching and a bedtime story around the fire. Every child came away with some great memories and an award from their peers recognising the qualities that they had shown, including resilience, kindness, courage, determination, politeness, patience and many more!
Our outdoor activities and residentials are a superb way to grow, highlight and celebrate so many great qualities as learners. Children have a chance to shine in different ways facing new challenges and it is wonderful to see new aspects to characters and personalities developing. Well done to all the children who played their part and did their best with the challenges they faced. Thank you to the team at Cumbria Outdoors and their excellent instructors. Huge thanks to all seven staff and governors who accompanied the children, to Mrs Smith as event leader, and to all colleagues at school who supported the residential.
