Spot the North Lakes Ghosts at Penrith’s Ghost Hunt! - SATURDAY

Penrith Hallowen Festival Saturday 29 October 10am–5pm

Headless horsemen, witches, ghosts and ghouls are set for a ‘Spooky Saturday’ in Penrith on 29 October, as the town centre is transformed from 10am-5pm for a Halloween Festival!

Shoppers and visitors to the town will be able to enjoy and participate in range of themed activities which include street entertainers, stilt walkers, fire eaters, CandyKiss Dance and a range of tasty local food and produce to try.

The most popular activity may be rides with the Headless Horseman’s Carriage around ghostly Penrith town centre! Activities are taking place throughout the town centre on the day with the support of local businesses.

On Market Square local producers will have an array of stalls so shoppers can try a myriad of Halloween themed food. Tim the ‘Tattie Man’ will also be in fancy dress selling his jacket potatoes on Devonshire Street. A Halloween cake decorating competition is being held in the Corn Market with a various categories of entry for amateur and professional cake makers of all ages.

For families, children can become Ghostbusters by participating in Penrith’s very own Ghost Hunt! Children can track down small ghosts hiding in local shops, which each have a letter, which when you discover all the ghosts, spells out a scary word or phrase. Prizes will be awarded to successful Ghostbusters.

Fancy dress and pumpkin carving competitions are also taking place, along with face painting to enhance your fancy dress costume!

Dukes Restaurant and Bar will be the Hub of the Halloween activities and will host an early evening family party, where entertainers will tell ghost stories and the prizes will be given out for the various competitions and later in the evening a disco is being held to keep the party going. Where a fee is charged for an activity proceeds will go to support the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Halloween Festival is supported by the Vitality of Penrith Group www.eden.gov.uk/vop.
