We would like to let you know about two parents who have undertaken some amazing fund raising challenges.
Anthea Jones and her son Matty walked the length of Hadrian’s Wall over half term, camping each night and completing over 100 miles in eight days. They were raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Anthea is coming in to assembly on Friday to talk about their adventure. This is not a school based appeal, but if you would like to find out more or to donate you can visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/anthea-jones1
Mo Kelly, another parent, is travelling to the USA to take part in the New York Marathon this weekend. Mo is a serving police officer and is running to raise money for the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund. Nicola was a young serving constable who was killed in Manchester in 2014 and funds in her memory go to a counselling service for children who have been affected by the loss of a loved one through crime.
Mo has asked if the children would like to be involved in her fund raising efforts and so next week, during normal PE lessons, the children will be taking on a run, jog or walk to support Mo’s efforts. While this is not a school appeal, again, any voluntary contributions to the charity would be appreciated, More information can be found at: http://www.pcnicolahughesmemorialfund.co.uk/
Thank you for your support- I thought that many of you would like to know about these challenges and I am sure with me would like to congratulate both parents on their efforts.
