North Lakes School records for National Sing Up Song Bank

AS a Platinum Award Sing Up school, Penrith’s North Lakes School was invited to record the next four songs for the National Online Sing Up Songbank.

Thirty of the choir’s 50 members travelled to Melmerby village hall, where they spent six hours recording with professional sound engineers, a producer from London and Jilly Jarman.

Music co-ordinator Martyn Soulsby said: “It is a real privilege to be asked to record by Sing Up. Not only will the children be featured on the Sing Up website, but two of the songs will feature in the Sing Up Magazine, which is sent out to every primary school in England.”

The choir recorded the Katrina and the Waves song Walkin on Sunshine and a German song Grun sind alle meine Kleider, which will both feature in the magazine, as well as The Monster Mash for Hallowe’en and White Christmas for the festive season, which will feature on the website.
