North Lakes School the first to use innovative new Lunch Shop system
North Lakes School in Penrith is set to be the first school in the UK to use Lunch Shop, a brand new online school meals ordering and payment system which is set to launch in September.
This specially-designed system has been developed by Orian Solutions, based in Carlisle, which provides 10,000 school meals across the North. One of their teams works within North Lakes School to provide daily home-cooked meals for children at the school.
Lunch Shop will allow parents to go online to pay for, and order if they would like, their child’s school meals. Pre-ordering of dinners can be as much as a term in advance, or if children and parents would prefer, children can order their lunches each morning at school, using a specially developed touch-screen system in the classroom.
Using Lunch Shop means parents will not have to remember to bring cash or cheques into school to pay for meals, instead they can make secure online payments at a time convenient to them using their phone, tablet device or PC, and top-up whenever they need to.
The system will also cut down on school administration time. It is set to launch in the new term in September and parents are being encouraged to sign-up early in the new term.
Mike Pincombe, Head teacher, said: “We’re delighted to be the first school in the country to use Lunch Shop which has been specially designed to be easy to use for children, parents and our team within the school. We’re excited about using Lunch Shop and we’re sure it will be beneficial for all who use it.”
